CUERO, Texas — The Cuero Gobblers closed out the regular season in impressive fashion Friday night, overwhelming the Bandera Bulldogs 63-7 and extending their undefeated record to 10-0. The victory capped a perfect regular season for Cuero and further solidified the Gobblers’ position atop the district standings.
Playing before a hometown crowd at Gobbler Stadium, Cuero wasted little time establishing control. The Gobblers’ offense continued its season-long trend of explosive production, scoring early and often while their defense limited Bandera’s opportunities throughout the contest. The Bulldogs entered the game with a respectable 5-5 record, but they had no answer for Cuero’s balanced attack.
The win was the latest in a string of dominant performances by the Gobblers. Cuero entered the matchup following consecutive lopsided victories over Pearsall (60-0) and Navarro (63-33), carrying significant momentum into the final regular-season game. The offense once again demonstrated its ability to score in bunches, while the defense continued to force opposing teams into difficult situations.
For Bandera, the loss brought an end to a season that saw the Bulldogs battle through a competitive district schedule. Despite the setback, Bandera finished with a 5-5 overall record after earning several key district victories during the year.
Cuero’s perfect 10-0 regular season is a testament to the team’s consistency, discipline, and depth. Under the leadership of Head Coach Jerod Fikac, the Gobblers have emerged as one of the stronger programs in Class 4A Division II, entering postseason play with confidence and momentum.
With the regular season complete, the Gobblers now turn their attention to the UIL playoffs, where they will look to continue their unbeaten run and pursue another deep postseason campaign. If Friday night’s performance was any indication, Cuero will be a team few opponents will want to face in the weeks ahead.
