Emily Yalis Kimes of Cuero, Texas, passed away in her home with her family by her side on July 19, 2026, at the age of 91. She was born November 16, 1934, to Sleiman and Rismie Tomhe Yalis in Tucumán, Argentina. Emily came to the United States in 1964 and began raising her children, Judy & Ed. From day one, she proved she was a fighter. Emily met and married the love of her life, Lloyd Kimes, in 1975. She was motivated to succeed at anything she put her mind to, whether it was sales, entrepreneurship, or poetry. She was a loving, generous, and supportive wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother.
Emily was preceded in death by her parents, Sleiman and Rismie; her brother, Julio; her daughter, Judy; and her sister, Janny.
Emily is survived by her dear husband, Lloyd; her faithful son, Ed & his wife Rachel; her granddaughters, Kasey and Kayla; her sisters, Mary, Julie and Sara; her nephew, Daniel & his wife Tiffany and their son Marshal and her brother-in-law, Louis (identical twin to Lloyd).
A private service to celebrate and honor Emily’s life will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Cuero, Texas. Emily will be interred at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas at a later date.
