Stephen Worthy – Oct 13, 1952 to Sept 2, 2026 (73)

SHINER: Stephen Wayne Worthy, 73, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. He was born October 13, 1952, in San Antonio, TX, to the late Wayne and Rosemary (Kearney) Worthy.  Stephen was a firefighter and later in his career, an arson investigator.  He knew early in life that he wanted to be a firefighter.  He was a volunteer at the age of 19 and was hired full time at the age of 21.  His father was a police officer, and Stephen became a licensed police officer when he became an arson investigator, which he did for twenty years before his retirement.  He was big-hearted and although in his line of work, he saw many things that stayed with him his whole life, he was able to separate work from family time.  One of his greatest joys was being a grandfather and great-grandfather.  He never denied a request from his grand or great-grandchildren.  Whatever it was, grandpa would make it happen.  In his spare time, Stephen enjoyed watching the program, “Myth Busters.” He certainly enjoyed blowing stuff up, usually during family gatherings.  The men would disappear on the property and loud sounds would be heard.  He also loved his cats.  Stephen was loved by his family and will be greatly missed.
