Shane Lee Guerrero Jul 26, 1987 — Aug 15, 2026

With heavy hearts and an abundance of love, we announce the passing of Shane Lee Guerrero, 39, of Cuero, who passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Although his time here was far too short, Shane leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and countless memories that will forever keep his spirit alive.

Shane was born on July 26, 1987, in Yoakum, to Rodger Garza and Lisa Ann Guerrero. He was raised by his grandparents, Larry Daniel Guerrero Sr. and Maria Dominga Perez Guerrero, whose love, guidance, and influence remained an important part of his life. On October 23, 2016, Shane married Rachel Elizabeth Dixon in Houston. Family was an important part of Shane’s life, and some of the greatest pieces of his legacy are the children and loved ones he leaves behind.

He is survived by his wife Rachel Dixon; parents, Rodger and Lisa Garza; Grandmother, Maria Guerrero; his daughter, Rachel Elizabeth Hernandez; his sons, Raul Hernandez and Dexter Lee Guerrero; his brother, Eric Lane Garza and his sisters, Brittany Paige Garza and Melanie Medisol Guerrero Saenz.

Shane was preceded in death by his grandfather Larry Daniel Guerrero Sr. and uncles, Larry Daniel Guerrero and Joe Ray Guerrero. Shane worked for the DeWitt County Road and Bridge Department, where he was known for working hard and doing his part. But a person’s life can never truly be measured by where they worked or how many years, they lived. Shane’s life is measured in the people who loved him, the memories they shared with him, the laughter that will still be talked about years from now, and the place in his family that can never be replaced.

Shane was a man full of character and personality. He was a true jokester at heart, always finding a way to make people laugh, even in the simplest moments. His humor, quick wit, and playful spirit brought light into every room he entered, and those who knew him will always remember the way he could turn an ordinary day into something memorable with just a joke or a smile. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his cousins. He shared a love for music and movie nights with his family and friends. He was a simple man who cared about the little things.

Losing Shane leaves a space that words cannot adequately describe. His family will miss his presence, his voice, his laughter, and all the little things that made him uniquely Shane. There will be moments when his absence feels especially heavy, but there will also be moments when a memory brings a smile, a familiar story brings laughter, or something small reminds everyone that the love shared with him did not leave when he did. Though Shane is no longer here physically, he will continue to live through his children, his family, and everyone whose life was touched by his. His name will continue to be spoken, his stories will continue to be told, and his memory will remain a treasured part of the Guerrero family for generations to come.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 21, 2026, 5:00-7:00 PM at Freund Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026, 10:00 AM at Freund Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Bagwell officiating.

Honorary pallbearers include Raul Hernandez, Larry Daniel Guerrero III, Brandon Lewis Ladwig, Eric Lane Garza, Jonathan Andrew Gamez, Eric Vasquez, Scott Orsak, Jesse David Guerrero, and Jeremy Saenz.

Memorial contributions may be made to Freund Funeral Home to help defray expenses.
