Elberta Pape Zuber, 83, of Cuero passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2026. She was born January 28, 1943, in Floresville to Oscar Horace and Nancy Cockcroft Pape. She married Edward Zuber on February 9, 1963, in Yorktown. She worked for and retired from Brentex/Mount Vernon Mills.
Mama’s highlight each summer was selling watermelons at the city park. She enjoyed playing Bingo, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The grandkids spent a lot of time with Granny and Papaw and they were their pride and joy.
She is survived by her daughters, Kim Kuecker (Donald), Karen Filip (Richard) and Kathy Mraz; grandchildren, Jason Kuecker, Ashley Mraz, Bradley Kuecker (Lauren), Colton Filip (Jessica), Carly Schons (Anthony) and Trace Zuber; great-grandchildren, Haylee and Cason Kuecker, Riley and Reagan Schons and Haden and Hansen Filip and brother, Orvel Pape numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kent Zuber; grandson, Hunter Mraz; her husband of 56 years, Edward; sisters, Roberta Grahmann and Lois Ann Durbin and brothers, Joe Lee Pape and Horace Pape.
Pallbearers include Donald Kuecker, Jason Kuecker, Brad Kuecker, Anthony Schons, Colton Filip and Trace Zuber.
Honorary Pallbearers include her grandkids, great-grandkids, Richard Filip, Victor Galindo and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 23, 2026, 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Freund Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 5:30 PM. Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 24, 2026, 10:00 AM at Freund Funeral Home with Deacon Leo Sharron officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Yorktown.
