SHINER: Lucille “Sister” Lawrence, age 87, was born on November 29, 1938 in Dryer, Texas to the late Jessie and Della Spruell. She peacefully departed life on August 20, 2026 in Seguin, Texas.
Lucille was a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church. She worked as a caregiver for many years, touching lives through her hard work, care and kindness. Lucille lived in constant motion–always on the go and embracing the moment. She was known for making people laugh and her outgoing spirit. She enjoyed listening to music, watching western shows and most importantly spending time with family and friends.
She leaves to cherish and honor her memory: daughter, Helen McAfee (Todd); grandchildren, Jessica Lawrence (Darrell), Charles Gabriel McAfee and Jeremiah McAfee (Taylor) and nine great-grandchildren; nephew, Anton Dews (Kristen) along with nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: parents; husband, Lavel “Dr. Duck” Lawrence and a brother, Jessie Spruell Jr.
Funeral Service 2:30 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home with Pastor Lynn Jones officiating. Burial at Bluebonnet Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Bradyn Davis, Jeremiah McAfee, Charles Gabriel McAfee, Austonio Justice, Dontell Bell, Truman Justice and Mitchell Justice. Honorary pallbearers: Terry Spruell, Anton Dews, Alvin Brown and Archie Lawrence.
