Cuero ISD’s School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) announced that it is partnering with Cuero Regional Hospital to offer free cardiac screenings for current Cuero Junior High eighth‑grade students. The screenings will take place September 23–24, 2026.
According to district officials, the voluntary screenings are intended to help identify potential pre‑existing heart conditions that may increase risks associated with physical activity or athletic competition. SHAC members noted that early detection can play an important role in protecting student health, particularly for those involved in sports or other strenuous activities.
Participation requires a signed Consent and Release Form. Forms were sent home with students, and families may also download the form from this week’s Cuero Junior High Parent Newsletter.
Cuero ISD expressed appreciation to Cuero Regional Hospital for providing the screenings at no cost and for its continued commitment to student wellness throughout the community.
