DeWitt County Monitors Creeks and Waterways Following Recent Rainfall

The DeWitt County Office of Emergency Management and Floodplain Administration announced Tuesday that it is closely monitoring creeks, rivers, and tributaries throughout the area in the wake of recent rainfall that brought welcome moisture to the region. Officials said the stretch of precipitation, while much needed after dry conditions, has prompted the office to keep a careful eye on water levels across the county.

At this time, emergency management officials said they do not anticipate any immediate flooding concerns. Still, the office noted that it will continue to track rainfall activity occurring to the north and within surrounding watersheds that ultimately feed into local waterways. As conditions develop over the coming days, officials said they intend to remain vigilant and provide updates as warranted.

The office also reached out to community members for assistance, encouraging residents to stay weather aware and to share photographs of rainfall or rising creek levels in their neighborhoods. Those wishing to contribute can post photos and updates directly to the office’s social media pages, helping officials maintain real-time situational awareness of conditions on the ground throughout DeWitt County.

As always, residents are urged to exercise caution and avoid crossing low-water crossings during heavy rain events. Anyone who observes flooding or has concerns about rising water levels is encouraged to contact the DeWitt County Office of Emergency Management promptly.
