Margarita Flores, 90, of Cuero passed away Sunday, May 31, 2026. She was born June 10, 1935 in Cuero to Manuel and Nicolasa Chavarria Olguin. She married Julian Bueno Flores on June 17, 1952 in Cuero. She started working in the cotton fields at the early age of 15. She also worked at the Cotton Mill in Cuero for a couple years before going to work on the farm in Smiley. She was a member of the Guadalupanos and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Dora Pena (Rickey Sr.) and Lupe Gonzales; sons, Santos V. Flores (Chasity), Frank Flores Sr. (Paula), Julian Flores Jr., Alfonso Flores (Ilia) and Bibian Flores; sisters, Dominga Olguin, Nicholas Reyna, Georgia Olguin and Carmen Olguin; brothers, Richard Olguin and Domingo Olguin; 23 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Julian; daughters-in-law, Nora Gonzales and Sylvia Flores and son-in-law, Hector Gonzales.
Pallbearers include Santos V. Flores, Frank Flores Sr., Alfonso Flores, Frank Flores Jr., Bibian Flores and Rickey Pena Jr.
Honorary Pallbearers include Seth Benefiel, Travis Flores, Phillip Reyna and Senon Reyna.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 12, 2026 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Freund Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, June 13, 2026, 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hillside cemetery.
