Irene Bernice Goehring – November 7, 1930 to May 18, 2025 (94)

Irene Bernice Goehring, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at her home in Cuero surrounded by her loved ones.  She was born November 7, 1930 in Dewitt County to the late Frank A. and Regina Hahn Ibrom.  Irene’s life was a tapestry woven with love, dedication and service to her family and community.

On August 21, 1950, Irene married the love of her life, Raymond Paul Goehring.  Together, they built a beautiful family and shared many cherished memories over their decades together.  Through the years, Irene exemplified the true meaning of devotion as a loving wife and mother.

She is survived by her husband of seventy-four years, Raymond and their children, Allan Goehring and his wife, Darlene, and Wesley Goehring and his wife, Rhonda.

Irene’s legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Amanda Repka (Jason), Bridgette Schutz (Clay), Carrie Parsons (Aaron), Irene Tipton (Johnathan), Jeremy Goehring (Rose), Joshua Goehring (Alicia) and Jessica Soule (Jacob).  She also cherished her eighteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life., and is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Margaret Huffman, Abby Reue, Bernice Darnell and husband, Robert, Marie Etheredge; and sister-in-law, Jackie Ibrom.

Irene was preceded in death by her grandson, David Goehring; her brothers, Lawrence Ibrom and Bernard Ibrom; and sisters, Teresa Wall and Clara Neyland.

An esteemed Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), Irene dedicated her career to caring for others, serving at Cuero Community Hospital and Whispering Oaks Nursing Home in Cuero.  Her compassionate nature extended beyond her professional life; she was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Westhoff and the American Legion Auxiliary where she volunteered her time and talents.

Irene had a passion for gardening and cooking, and she loved to teach Vacation Bible School, imparting her faith to younger generations.  Her greatest joy, however, came from playing with her grandchildren, whose laughter filled her heart with happiness.  A kind-hearted and nurturing soul, Irene is remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family and community.  She was truly a devoted wife and mother, and her love will continue to resonate in the hearts of those she touched.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Alzcare of Dewitt County and Hospice of South Texas for the compassionate care provided to Irene.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in her memory to Hospice of South Texas, First Baptist Church in Westhoff or Samaritan’s Purse.

A visitation to honor Irene’s life will be held in Cuero on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 AM led by Pastor Larry Odem.  Interment will follow at Westhoff Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Jeremy Goehring, Joshua Goehring, Greg Ibrom, Derek Etheredge, Kaleb Repka and Donald Dieringer.

As we bid farewell to Irene Bernice Goehring, we celebrate a life well-lived and a heart that loved fiercely.  She will be dearly missed but remembered always for her kindness, her laughter and her boundless love.
