Cuero, Tx – The City of Cuero is rolling out a new Bulky/Brush Item Pick‑Up service, offering residents two free collections per year through Texas Disposal Systems. The program is designed to help households dispose of large items that are too big for regular trash service.
According to Texas Disposal Systems, a bulky item is any single object or group of items measuring up to three cubic yards—roughly the size of three washing machines placed side‑by‑side. Accepted items include furniture, drained water heaters, appliances with freon removed, wood without nails, doors, carpet, and toilets. Mattresses and box springs are also accepted, though an additional fee applies.
The service also covers compactible items, such as household trash, paper, plastic, fabric, and yard waste. These items must be bagged, boxed, or bundled in manageable amounts. One cubic yard equals seven medium boxes, 30‑gallon bags, or bundles of tree limbs. Bundles must be under five feet long and secured with twine, rope, or duct tape. Each item must weigh 30 pounds or less.
Residents are asked to place bulky items at least five feet away from obstacles such as mailboxes, vehicles, tree branches, utility lines, and personal property to ensure safe and efficient pickup.
To schedule one of the two annual no‑charge pickups, residents must call Texas Disposal Systems at (844) 873‑7734.
The new service aims to provide Cuero residents with a convenient and cost‑effective way to manage oversized waste while keeping neighborhoods clean and accessible.
