Charles Edward Benton, 97, of Cuero, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2026. He was born June 18, 1929, at his family home in Cuero to the late Douglas Edward Benton and Bessie Helen Barnard Benton Howe.

Charles was a gentle, kindhearted man whose strong Christian faith was the foundation of his life. They were married on February 21, 1985, in Houston, beginning 41 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, companionship, and cherished memories. Together, they especially enjoyed traveling with fellow Shell Oil retirees, with Branson, Missouri, holding a special place in their hearts. Charles and June worked at the Silver Dollar City for five years, enjoying every moment and meeting and making so many friends.

Charles is survived by daughter, Rebecca Ann Benton of Burnet; sons, Edwin Charles Benton of Florence and John Gregory Wyatt of Pearland; stepchildren, Jason Butler of New Braunfels, Jed Butler of Spring, and Jon Butler of San Antonio; 12 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Alisha Humphrey; son, James Douglas Benton ; brother, son-in-law, stepfather, stepbrother, grandson, and granddaughter.

A graveside service will be held Friday, October 30, 2026 at 11 am at Hillside Cemetery.
