Pat Trevino Announces Candidacy as a Certified Write‑In Candidate for DeWitt County Judge

Cuero Online News | August 21, 2026

Cuero, Texas — Pat Trevino has announced her candidacy as a Certified Write‑In Candidate for DeWitt County Judge, bringing nearly two decades of government experience and a proven record of leadership during real emergencies, including large‑scale pandemic response.  And administrative support for critical infrastructure and flood-mitigation activities in DeWitt County.

Trevino joined the Green DeWitt Drainage District as Office Manager in December 2022, where she oversees administrative operations, financial reporting, and compliance documentation in coordination with district leadership. Her role supports the district’s mission of drainage maintenance and flood‑mitigation efforts.

Before joining the drainage district, Trevino served as a Program Specialist with the Golden Crescent Regional Planning Commission, conducting compliance audits across seven counties. Her work ensured that regional programs met state and federal standards, strengthening her understanding of inter‑county coordination, regulatory requirements, and public‑sector accountability.

One of the most defining chapters of Trevino’s career came during the COVID‑19 pandemic, when she coordinated emergency‑response operations for entire communities. She managed individual testing sites, implemented CDC guidelines, and oversaw outreach efforts that served thousands of residents per day during the most critical months of the crisis. Her work was recognized for its organization, professionalism, and ability to maintain stability during rapidly evolving public‑health conditions.

Trevino’s earlier government experience includes service with the City of Cuero, where she worked in the Accounting Department and later as Purchasing Agent, ensuring fiscal responsibility and procurement compliance. She also served in the Victoria County District Clerk’s Office as a Deputy Clerk, where her responsibilities included case intake, payment tracking, and courtroom support during Office of the Attorney General child‑support dockets. She assisted parents and legal representatives with case information, processed payment records, and maintained official documentation for the division.

Her academic studies include coursework at Victoria College, the University of Houston–Victoria, and Austin Peay State University, reflecting her commitment to continued professional development.

In addition to her government service, Trevino is the publisher of Cuero Online News, an online media platform focused on community reporting, local features, and historical coverage. Her work demonstrates a sustained dedication to accessible public communication and documentation of local stories.

Trevino previously volunteered as an ESL instructor, assisting adult learners with language development, and served on the boards of H.O.P.E. (Hispanic Organization for Progress and Education) and the Adult Literacy Council in Clarksville, Tennessee, contributing to community-education initiatives and organizational development.

Her dedication to Texas heritage is reflected in her extensive personal‑history projects, focusing on Spanish and Mexican land grants and the early settlers of Texas. She is a member of the DeWitt County Historical Commission and devotes much of her personal time to genealogy and archival research.

“Emergency management is not theoretical to me—it is a lived experience,” Trevino said. “I have coordinated real-world pandemic response and provided administrative support for flood mitigation operations that protect DeWitt County. I work closely with district leadership through monthly board meetings that parallel the procedural and administrative responsibilities of a county judge – responsibilities I have already performed in real-world settings.”
