MaryJane Henson officially declared her candidacy for the School Board Member position in District 1. With a strong passion for education and community, MaryJane is eager to bring her experience and dedication to the school board.
“I’m excited to officially announce my candidacy for School Board Member, District 1,” said Henson. “For those who don’t know me, my name is MaryJane Henson, and I’m a proud mom of two Cuero Gobbler students.”
MaryJane has been married to ShaNon Henson for 24 years. ShaNon is the owner of Exibix, Inc. and also serves as a Cuero City Councilman. As a licensed cosmetologist and the owner of Chica’s Beauty Salon, which she opened 22 years ago, MaryJane has demonstrated her commitment to fairness, honesty, consistency, and hard work.
Over the years, MaryJane has built strong relationships with many parents, grandparents, students, and teachers in the community. “We’ve shared tears, laughter, and some great conversations about all kinds of topics,” she shared.
Having been deeply involved in fundraising, school organizations, and volunteering for her kids’ activities, MaryJane has firsthand experience with the challenges that students and parents face every day. She emphasizes her ability to work with others, listen, and find solutions. “That’s the kind of approach I plan to bring to the school board,” said MaryJane.
MaryJane recognizes the importance of managing finances and budgets but also believes that students and teachers are more than just numbers. “When tough decisions need to be made, I’ll always keep them at the center of every choice,” she said. “I’m dedicated to being a strong voice for our community and would be honored to have your support.”
Early voting for the School Board Member election begins on April 22. MaryJane encourages those who are not registered to vote to reach out for assistance. The last day to register to vote is April 3, and Election Day is May 3.
