Stephen Wade Kenne, 70, of Missouri City, passed away on September 29, 2026. He was born on January 21, 1956, to Clifton and Aileen Kenne. On May 13, 1978, he married Janie Korth, beginning a marriage that spanned 48 years and a family that would grow to include two daughters and six grandchildren.
Stephen graduated from Cuero High School, where he was a proud member of two state championship football teams. He later earned a degree in petroleum engineering from Texas A&I University in Kingsville. He began his career with Getty Oil Company in Victoria before relocating to Houston and eventually fulfilled his entrepreneurial spirit by starting his own business.
Stephen was always a huge sports enthusiast. He loved playing football, coaching softball, and watching his daughters and grandkids play just about anything. He always kept up with the Gobblers and would often fall asleep in his recliner watching sports on TV. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and having a good time with his friends.
His greatest joy was being a grandpa. He read books, played board games, cheered on the sidelines, and even brushed out hair tangles. The grandkids could convince him to jump into a cold swimming pool on vacation, drive them to get ice cream, and take them to the park for the umpteenth time in a row. Holidays were especially fun for him, with all the kiddos running around. He loved egg hunts, popping firecrackers, and putting together new toys.
He is survived by his wife, Janie Kenne; his daughters, Kaci Howell and Kelli Dougharty and her husband, Neil; his grandchildren, Holton Howell and Nicholas, Shelby, Declan, Zylar, and Colson Dougharty; his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Kenne; and nephews, Clayton, Dustin, and Barton Kenne and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Sheldon Kenne.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Stephen’s honor to Texas Heart Association, Alzheimer’s Association, or American Cancer Society.
