Cuero ISD confirmed Friday that a security officer’s service weapon was left unattended for a brief period inside a staff‑only area at John C. French Elementary School. According to the district’s public statement, no students came into contact with the weapon, and another staff member quickly secured it.
The district emphasized that safety remains its top priority and stated that the situation, along with all related protocols, will be evaluated to ensure the continued safety of students and staff. Cuero ISD also thanked the community for its support and understanding.
