Delores “Dee” (Lewis) Koenning peacefully went to heaven, where she was reunited with her Lord and Savior and the family and friends who went before her.
Dee will be lovingly remembered for her joking personality, her love of playing games, and her remarkable ability to find a great shopping deal. Her love of travel took her all the way to the Holy Land, which was by far her favorite trip. She enjoyed going to the ranch to feed the cows, reading her Bible, listening to music played by her brother, Gary Lewis, and being a social butterfly with everyone she met. You could always find Dee dressed in a fashionable outfit, with her hair and makeup perfectly matched any day of the week.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Clara Lewis; husband, Otto Lee Koenning; her son, Robin “Hood” Sutton; her daughter, Penny Rebecca Smith; her brother, Bud Lewis; and her sisters-in-law, Barbara Lewis and Peggy Lewis.
She is survived by her brother, Gary Lewis and his daughter Missy Trangmar; her granddaughter and family, Brandi, Chris, Mackenzie, and Zoie Lusk; and her grandson and family, Shane, Lewis, Shane Jr. Sutton, Stefanie and Austin Sreaves. She is also survived by the family she gained through marriage to Otto Lee Koenning; including her stepdaughter, Rhonda Jendzrey and Rhonda’s daughters, Stephanie Charbula, Brianna Masterson, and Kaylyn Moehrig.
Our family is deeply grateful to Darwin and Mary Koenning for their loving support and for helping ensure Mimi’s health, safety, and happiness over the years. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff of Vitality Court Nursing Home and Victoria Hospice in Victoria, TX for their compassionate care.
