The newspaper clippings shown below are a selection of articles that were enlarged for easier reading. They come from The Cuero Record’s first digitized edition, now available through the newspaper’s archival project.
Although this is the earliest digitized issue currently accessible, the history of The Cuero Record goes back much further. The paper traces its origins to 1873, making it one of the oldest continuously published newspapers in South Texas. Over the decades, it has documented local life, major events, and the growth of DeWitt County from the post‑Reconstruction era to the present day.
These early clippings offer a rare look at the people, businesses, and daily happenings that shaped Cuero more than a century ago — a reminder of the newspaper’s long legacy as a community record‑keeper.
