Pat Trevino | March 28, 2026
Yorktown ISD is celebrating an outstanding achievement by student Ryleigh, who earned 1st place in her Level 1 competition and received her official certification during a major skills event held this week. Her success didn’t stop there — Ryleigh also placed 3rd overall out of 150 competitors in the highly challenging underwater welding competition.

Her performance earned her a trophy, a belt buckle, an array of event swag, and an impressive $4,000 in scholarship awards.

Ryleigh and fellow competitor Katie represented Yorktown ISD with determination and professionalism, going above and beyond in their first year participating in the competition. Their efforts drew praise from instructors and event organizers, who noted the difficulty of the underwater welding category and the high level of skill required to excel.
Yorktown ISD commended both students for their hard work, dedication, and strong showing on behalf of the district.
Great job, ladies — Yorktown is proud of you.
