Westhoff Independent School District (ISD) is set to expand its educational offerings with the introduction of Westhoff Academy for College and Careers, a new high school component launching in the 2025-26 school year. This marks a significant milestone for the district, which has traditionally served students in grades K-8.
The academy will begin with a ninth-grade class, with additional grades (10, 11, and 12) added in successive years. While Westhoff Elementary and Middle Schools continue their mission of “Where Kids Come First,” the academy will embrace a new vision: “Rooted in Tradition, Focused on the Future”.
Enrollment and Expansion Plans
Westhoff Academy will accept students from Meyersville ISD and Nursery ISD, providing educational opportunities in grade levels currently unavailable in those districts. Additionally, the academy will welcome transfer students from surrounding school districts, including Nixon-Smiley, Cuero ISD, Yorktown ISD, Yoakum ISD, and Nordheim ISD.
To accommodate the new high school, temporary modular buildings will be installed adjacent to the existing campus for the 2025-26 school year. Plans for a dedicated high school wing are under consideration for future expansion, including a science lab, additional classrooms, and upgraded facilities.
Financial and Community Impact
Westhoff ISD, classified as a Recapture (Robin Hood) district, aims to reduce the portion of local property tax revenue redirected to the state by increasing student enrollment. This strategy allows the district to retain more local funds, reinvesting directly into educational staffing, programs, and partnerships with local businesses.
Community Engagement
To ensure transparency and community involvement, Westhoff ISD will host two town hall meetings to discuss the logistics and vision of the new high school. These meetings will provide an opportunity for parents, students, and community members to learn more about the academy’s goals and future plans.
Westhoff Academy for College and Careers represents a bold step forward for the district, offering expanded educational opportunities while maintaining its commitment to student success and community growth.
