CUERO, Texas — Friends of DeWitt County Children will hold a special community gathering on Wednesday, April 1, at 11:45 a.m. to kick off Child Abuse Awareness Month and honor local children impacted by abuse, neglect, foster care, or kinship care.
The event, known as the Siren Sound-Off, will take place at 601 E. Broadway, the site of the original John C. French Building. The observance will last approximately 30 minutes and is open to the public.
Organizers say the ceremony is meant to shine a light on the children from DeWitt County who spent time in foster care or kinship care during 2025, as well as those who were victims of abuse or neglect. Attendees are encouraged to wear blue, the national color of child abuse prevention.
To ensure safety and visibility for participants, Friends of DeWitt County Children asks attendees not to park on the street during the event.
The organization continues its mission to support vulnerable children across the county and raise awareness about the importance of community involvement in child protection.
