Barbara Jean Wright/Kaiser, 82, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2025. She was born on June 25, 1943, to Martin and Agnes Oehlke. She attended school in Goliad and was very proud to tell everyone she graduated as Salutatorian of the class of 1961.
On January 24, 1962, she married Homer Ray Wright. Barbara and Homer started their life in Weesatche and later moved to Cuero, where they raised their three boys: Dale, Brett and Jamie. She was a “jack of all trades” in her working career. She obtained her Real Estate License and sold real estate, sold Specialty Advertising, worked at Cuero ISD, Bohman Clinic and was Secretary for St. Mark’s Lutheran Church for several years. The job she was most known for in her community was being the Avon lady in Cuero. For several years she made trips into businesses and homes and left her Avon books for everyone. Her coined phrase of “What pleases you, pleases me” still makes the family laugh.
Barbara was a devoted wife to Homer for more than 40 years and spent her later years with her second husband, Sydney Kaiser. She was proud to tell everyone how much she loved them both and how lucky she was to be married to TWO great men in her lifetime. She was a mom, a sister, a grandmother, and a great grandmother.
Barbara will be greatly missed by her sons, Brett Wright (Karen), Jamie Wright (Lisa); her grandchildren, Megan Kruger (Adam), Cameron Wright (Haley), Maxx Wright (Monique), Chris Kinzie (Kim) and Kaylee Mullins (Jack) and great grandchildren, Makenzie Kruger, Analise Kruger, Wyatt Wright, Parker Wright, Nicholas Mullins and Margaret Mullins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Agnes Oehlke; brother, Bert Oehlke; son, Dale Wright; and Husbands, Homer Wright and Sydney Kaiser.
The family is forever grateful to Andrea Strait and her staff at Alzcare of DeWitt County for the exceptional care and love given to Barbara which is profoundly appreciated.
